The Well Dressed Man May Wear a Vest
The men's dress vest was a traditional accessory to the formal suit of men's clothes. The vest is a sleeveless jacket. The dress vests that are often included in the package of the men's suit most often match the suit material in the front. The back is often of a light weight material.
Men's dress vests can also be purchased as an off the shelf item. In this case the material may be brighter or with a strong pattern. The vest can be worn in place of a sport coat or jacket for a semi-formal look.
There are also leather vests that are favored by the biker crowd. The bikers often decorate their leather vests with various colorful patches. Occasionally one will see a vest with some nice airbrush artwork as well.
